Stories of Taos Pueblo
John Suazo has written a book, Stories of Taos Pueblo. In this video he shares some of the history and tales of the Pueblo; stories that have never been told. He is more popularly known as a world famous stone sculptor. Back in the 1970's, he began to tape record many of the tribes elders telling stories in their language, Tiwa, and preserving historical events. John gives outsiders an inside view of what it was like being raised in the Pueblo. . . . It was fun to make this video. John has been my friend for decades and he is one of the nicest people I know. Check out some of his stone carvings and visit him in his shop in the Pueblo. The shop where he was raised is small and cozy. I real...

Why did they translate "música chicana" as "Spanish music"?
Humble Pie killed this cover 🔥
La aspiración que hace de -s- es increíble, muy típica del español atlántico más tradicional: Ehpaña, nohotroh, nuehtro, muhica, lenguah, por eho, vamoh a, etc. La aspiración dentro de la palabra está casi perdida en todas partes
Parece un cruce entre el habla de Cuba y la de México
I am cuban and I understand his Spanish without any difficulty ;some words are slightly different, but he speaks very good. Felisidades.
Es un español antiguo donde no se pronuncia la s al final de las palabras!
Sí pronuncia la "s", pero aspirada. Es algo que sucede en muchos países y regiones donde se habla español, desde Andalucía en España, por el Caribe, hasta el sur de Sudamérica, en Argentina, Uruguay y Chile.

@@pinchespiceEl español de Nuevo México si se parece al español de España ,o a lo mejor solo los del norte de Nuevo México.
It’s very similar to what I hear in Chicano communities in the sense that there are some incorrect structures and fake words due to the people being quite distant from real Spanish. For example: “Fui nacido en” is incorrect. “Nací en” is the correct form. Is this truly a dialect? I’d argue that it’s not a dialect but more so an established attempt at speaking Spanish to the best of their ability. Very intriguing phenomenon, absolutely.
You can't call it fake words just because you don't use it. Thet been using this dialect for centuries.
@@luisgomez74 words not recognized by the Spanish Royal Academy can indeed be considered as not being real. Troca, Cuques, Confleis, mapear, chor = Truck, cookies, corn flakes, the act of mopping, shorts. They’re a result of immigrant children becoming distant from the language of their parents. When subsequent generations are no longer fluent in a native tongue, relaxed pronunciations start to come about. I’ve used them, use them occasionally. And for all intents and purposes, I probably speak the language more fluently and compose it much more accurately than you.
@a.j.laplace4216 There are numerous dialects spoken in México by the natives. It doesn't have to be in a dictionary to be accepted in their tribes
Linguistics is a science and your opinions are immediately obvious as disconnected from the most basic understanding of it. Yes, I agree, this man is speaking absolutely terrible Latin, full of Arabic words and a grammar all messed up by contact with Basques and Celts and Indians and Americans - but its perfect New Mexican Spanish. Since you think words need an external stamp of approval, please consider reaching out to someone with a degree who studies this variety.
@@colbylejeune would that be you? Or?
Colorado native with New Mexico roots on both sides , and it’s most definitely different, my mom doesn’t understand some Mexican words because they differ from what she knows
Some mexicans dont understand or use Mexican Words from different regiojs of México. This man talks like he was from northern mexico
As a hispanic person from South America that has lived in many countries of the region, including Mexico, this accent sounds a lot like northern mexican accent with sone spanglish and some aspirations of the S like Caribbean countries or Andaluca accent from Spain.
Someone in another video stated which I wouldn’t know but now that you mentioned it came to mind. They stated it is Andaluca dialect …?
@@cassie1dueces It has some similarities with it, the andaluca dialect comes form Andalucia Spain, one of its characteristics is the aspiration of the S at the end of a syllable when it's not followed by another vowel. For instance if a person says ¿Cómo estás? both S would sound like an H sound in English "Ehtah", this is not as common in Mexico as it is in countries in the caribbean that received a heavy migration from that particular region of Spain or from the Canary Islands which some linguists consider an evolution of the Andaluca dialect. It definitely sounds very Mexican don't think I'm saying otherwise, any native Spanish speaker that has been in Mexico would agree but there's also that distinction.
Spanish music, it is not Mexican music. La música española es diferente de la música de latino america. Yo soy Española. El español europeo y latino america es diferente. Se llamaria Castellano. ( España)

I mean no disrepect, but he does not sound like cuban or canary island
It is a mix of different accents. I am from the Canary Islands and their accent is kind of similar to our accent. We got It mostly from the Andalusians anyway. There were many Canarian families that emigrated to the Northern Mexico (Sinaloa peninsula, ) and they founded San Antonio de Texas and community in Louisiana. And they were an important community in Florida.
I can hear similarities to the way spanish is spoken/pronounced in Central America (Nicaragua).

Adonio said that he likes Mexican music not Spanish music.
Mexican music is Spanish music because it's in Spanish language. Anyway, you're wrong. In the min 2:54 he exactly said that he likes "música chicana". Weirdly, they have translated it in the subtitles as "I like Spanish music. Any kind of Spanish music". He said "Chicana", not Mexican tough.
